Alien Energy Storytelling Workshop

24/10/2013 - 26/10/2013

Iceland is a place of storytelling, whether Viking Sagas or accounts of economic collapse and renewal. Our research project is interested in the oral stories that are told in sustainable energy: whether it is the origins of wave energy (Salter’s Duck? Nordic Folk Center for Renewable Energy?), or the political tensions at sites of geothermal energy where ‘rock people’ are known to live.

The oral stories we repeat amongst friends, colleagues and stakeholders become important as they ‘stick’. We believe there are interesting stories to be shared between us. And we believe this could be a way of weaving project participants and advisory board members together in a way that allows for collaboration in the years to come.

At the workshop we will be 10 participants. We are a small group, but we span consultants for the wave energy industry and social researchers of fish. Perhaps we can weave energy and fish together in our stories?
